As a teenager in the 1960s, even before reading Ayn Rand, I knew the Left was evil. The New Left of that era hated capitalism, hated America, and apologized for Communism. Regarding the Vietnam War, they chanted: “Ho Ho Ho Chi Minh, the NLF is gonna win!” They openly supported a Communist victory.
Despite this 50-year-long realization, even I find unfathomable the depths of dishonesty, racism, and sheer evil to which the Left has sunk in our day.
The mass murder in Atlanta is an example. This is a horrific atrocity–and a terrible tragedy for the victims. Six of the victims were Asian women. The suspect is a white man. Naturally, many Leftists immediately started screaming that white supremacy is the cause.
Do facts matter? To rational people, they do. Perhaps even to some Leftists. This is addressed to those who care about facts and about truth. If you do not care, you can stop reading. According to The Wall Street Journal, the suspect told law enforcement he targeted these massage parlors “for providing an outlet for his sex addiction….He said it was not racially motivated.” According to a video from Paul Joseph Watson linked to in an article by Andrea Widburg in The American Thinker, two of the murder victims were white.
That white supremacy still exists, although in a severely attenuated form compared to the past, there is no doubt. That it is evil, as are all forms of racism, there is no doubt. That it must be combated, as must be all forms of racism, there is no doubt. But as of right now, the evidence does not support the claim that the atrocity was motivated by white supremacy.
In fact, Asians are terribly discriminated against in the US: Because of generally outstanding academic performances, superb Asian students are often denied admission into top universities through Affirmative Action policies. Leftists discriminate against Asians in order to admit students with lesser (although still good) academic credentials because they are from racial groups that often lack the superlative academic credentials of many Asian kids. To Leftists, race trumps academic merit.
Regarding violent crimes, including those racially motivated, Robert Cherry, a retired Brooklyn College economist, writing in The American Spectator, uses FBI stats. In 2019, what was the percentage of hate crimes by race? The black rate for violent, racially-driven crimes against Asians was 40% higher than the white rate, 76% higher against Latinos, and a numbing 303% higher against members of the LGBTQ community.
Taleeb Starkes quotes Department of Justice stats: From 1980 to 2008, blacks, while constituting 13% of the US population, made up 47.4% of homicide victims and an astounding 52.4% of the homicide perpetrators.
Crime expert, Heather MacDonald, writing in the excellent conservative publication, City Journal, uses Bureau of Justice stats. In 2018, there were 593,598 recorded instances of racially-driven violent crimes between blacks and whites: In 537,204 cases, blacks were the perpetrators, whites were the victims. In 56,394, whites were the perpetrators, blacks were the victims. These instances exclude homicide. Given that blacks perpetrate more murders annually than whites, Latinos, and Asians combined, we can guess at what those numbers are.
Is this information meant to demonize blacks? God forbid. Such black geniuses as Dr. Ben Carson, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, and numerous others have immensely bettered my life and those of many other Americans. Blacks were victimized by whites in America for centuries…and, in a certain way, still are. Not by white supremacy now–but by Leftist supremacy, which I have written about at length in my essay, Leftist Supremacy, Not White Supremacy, is the Gravest Threat to Black Lives.
This is to point out that the Leftist feeding frenzy regarding white supremacy is a chimera. Facts do not matter to those pushing the white supremacy myth, nor does truth. What does matter to them is their virulent hatred of white people. Leftists are, as a general rule, the most egregious and the most unconscionable racists in the country. They must be identified as such–and they must be decisively answered.
