In her testimony last week, Gay defended her refusal to punish students who call for genocide against Jews by asserting that “we embrace a commitment to full expression.”

It was no surprise to me that Harvard was ranked dead last among major universities in supporting free speech.

The solution is to end the government’s involvement in every aspect, and that includes putting an end to all government-backed student loans.

Parents are forced to provide financial support for government schools, and this often leaves no money available to purchase an alternative education service.

Do parents have an unalienable right to determine how, in what, and by whom their children will be educated, or should the government have that right?

Expanding the government’s education monopoly will not achieve that goal. Expanding freedom of choice will. Freedom of choice will empower parents and students to hold schools accountable.

If rural Texans want government schools, then they should be willing to pay for them. Nobody is stopping them from making voluntary contributions to their local schools. They aren’t doing that because they would prefer to force others to “contribute” to their cause.

DeSantis should instruct Florida colleges and universities as follows: If you want complete autonomy to do whatever you want, then fine. We’ll stop subsidizing you. You will then be free to raise your revenues in other ways—essentially from willing customers, investors, donors, or whomever.

While the Senate is promoting the intellectual liberty of parents and students it is also assaulting that freedom by mandating that a particular set of ideas be taught.

Why the phonics-based approach is the only legitimate approach to beginning reading

I have argued many times that the federal government should not be in the business of lending money for college (nor for any other reason), but as long as we have student loans, we should limit the losses by requiring that someone other than the students be responsible for their debts. That party should be the college itself.

So, what could we do to improve education? Here are some ideas.

Freedom enables opportunities. School choice creates more freedom for parents and students.

Department of Education’s “improvements” to its student loan program will encourage colleges to increase tuition, creates a strong incentive to borrow as much as possible for college, and reduce the level of effort that students put into their college work.

So, what is the 1517 Fund? It is Gibson’s way of finding young people who have ideas and want to put them into effect without the long, expensive detour through college. 

It is time to enable parents to have the freedom to choose the school for their children through school choice.

The purpose is to turn children “queer” through an educational process.

Why is there this constant attempt to deny the past?

The reality is that a college degree is either valuable or it isn’t. If it’s valuable, it will pay for itself. If it’s not valuable, no one should pay for it. Either way, there’s no reason for the government to be involved.

Parents must seize control of their children’s education from the “interlocking directorate” that is waging a war against children’s minds.
